AP to change the way it charges newspapers

The Associated Press announced it will change its formula for deciding how much it collects in fees from U.S. newspapers in order to better factor in the growing number of people accessing its content digitally.

The revamped method will be based on the number of print and digital readers a newspaper has. It will go into effect next year, and replaces the current formula, based only on print readers, which was created in 1985, the AP explained in an article posted by The Wall Street Journal.
