Mobile devices boost newspaper e-editions

Thanks to iPads, Kindles, iPhones and Android mobile devices, newspaper e-editions are on the rise, with the top 25 U.S. newspapers seeing a 20 percent increase in circulation of their digital editions, the Audit Bureau of Circulations reported today.

The Wall Street Journal was at the top in terms of overall circulation, up 1.2 percent to 2,117,796., with an increase in electronic edition subscriptions of 21.9 percent, to 504,734, compared to last year. Its digital edition is available on its website, Apple devices, Google Android devices, Kindles, Nooks and Sony devices, paidContent noted.

In second place for digital editions was the Detroit Free Press, with 106,208, followed by The New York Times, at 100,520.
