Trulia launches crime maps

Real estate website Trulia today unveiled its latest offering: heat maps showing crimes in 50 cities across the United States.

The maps offer information similar to SpotCrime.com or EveryBlock.com, which maps out crime, as well as events, reviews, home prices and more. The crime and all-in-one maps concept is something that has piqued the interest of newsmedia publishers everywhere for the past few years, but very few have actually implemented the concept.

Fifty metro areas are currently available in Trulia’s Crime Maps section, with more likely to come, and information is sortable by location, crime and time the crime took place.

Local crime statistics have been popular online for some time, but putting that information into an easy-to-use, map format makes it easier for users to access data, and more likely they will visit the site again.
