Smartphone shipments will double from 2011 to 2015, to 602 million units, representing a CAGR of 16.2 percent. eReader shipments will grow 11.5 percent and PC shipments will expand 4.9 percent during that period, while netbooks will see a decline of 5.3 percent, likely fueled by the introduction of more robust and attractive handheld devices in the smartphone and tablet categories. These insights into consumers’ device buying habits inspire publishers and broadcasters worldwide to ramp up their content development for smartphones, tablets and high-definition television.
