From 2016 to 2019, Indonesia will be third fastest growing ad economy. No. 1 United States is expected to contribute in new ad dollars US$20.6 billion, or 28%; while No. 2 China is projected to contribute US$17.9 billion, or 24% in new revenue, according to Zenith’s Advertising Expenditure Forecasts, published in March 2017.
Internet is the fastest growing advertising medium, driven primarily by the rise of mobile advertising. Internet adspend grew 81% from 2015 to 2016. Zenith forecasts a 50% growth between 2016 and 2017. Internet advertising is projected to surpass advertising in the next five years.
Indonesia is projected to contribute US$3.2 billion in new advertising dollars, or about 4%, during the next three years. Indonesia is expected to join the Top 10 list of biggest advertising economies in 2019 in the No. 10 spot, garnering an estimated US$10.7 billion in overall adspend, compared to No. 1 Untied States, fetching an estimated US$211.5 billion in adspend. Indonesia was the third fastest growing adspend in the world with a 27.8% growth rate between 2015 and 2016, and is expected to be the fifth fastest growth rate between 2016 and 2019, with a 3-year growth of 41.7%.
